FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the most common credit card questions

How do I choose the right credit card?

Identify your top spending categories (online, dining, fuel, travel), then pick a card that gives the highest rewards there. Consider annual fees too — a free card with decent rewards often beats an expensive card if your monthly spend is under ₹30,000.

What is the difference between joining fee and annual fee?

Joining fee is a one-time charge when you get the card. Annual fee is charged every year. Many cards waive the annual fee if you spend above a threshold (e.g., ₹2 lakh/year). Some cards are lifetime free with no fee ever.

What CIBIL score do I need for a credit card?

Most banks need 700+ for standard cards and 750+ for premium cards. If you have no credit history, look for secured cards or beginner-friendly cards that don't require a CIBIL check.

How do credit card reward points work?

You earn points on every purchase (e.g., 2 points per ₹100). Points can be redeemed for flights, gift cards, statement credits or transferred to airline miles. Each point is worth ₹0.25–₹1 depending on how you redeem.

Which credit card is best for online shopping in India?

Co-branded cards like Amazon Pay ICICI (5% for Prime members), Flipkart Axis (5% on Flipkart/Myntra), and HDFC Swiggy card offer the highest cashback on online purchases. Use CardCheck to compare the latest rates.

How does airport lounge access work with credit cards?

Cards with lounge access give you free visits at domestic airports (via DreamFolks) and international airports (via Priority Pass). You simply walk in and present your card. Most cards offer 2–8 free visits per quarter.
